How you can benefit from yoga

Yoga provides positive benefits for all ages, and the rewards can be notable – from strengthening bones (thus preventing the onset of osteoporosis) to better sleep.

Yoga reduces stress and depression and can significantly improve balance and mobility.

It even alleviates aches and pains!

Kundalini is ideal for beginners, seniors, pregnant women or after an accident,  as it is very gentle and can be done seated on a chair or even stretched out on the floor.

Classes are held online via Zoom.

All proceeds go to the Newton Food Pantry.

Kundalini Chair Yoga is for the Body and Spirit

for The body and spirit

Kundalini Yoga and Meditation

I teach what has helped me. I have had issues with insomnia and anxiety and my practice of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation has served me well for years.

The mind follows the breath and the body follows the mind. Pranayama helps us to embrace our feelings with a strong nervous and glandular system.

A tense mind and a tense body go together. Relax the body and the mind is freed from worry and anxiety.

Kundalini Benefits

In times of crisis learn to be still and allow things to come to you. Look within for answers as you turn emotion into devotion. Open your heart and creativity will flow.

Work on eliminating the ego-consciousness of separation and loss and build faith and trust in the Infinite.

What to Expect when you take a Kundalini Class

Get ready to have a great day with gentle yoga, relaxation and meditation.

This is a chair yoga class-please have a sturdy, sound chair. You will want to have a bottle of water and a blanket or light shawl for relaxation. It is very important not to eat right before class.

Every Kundalini Yoga class follows the same format. First, we tune-in with a mantra followed by a short series of warm-up exercises. Breathwork precedes our yoga set, known as a kriya. There are hundred’s of kriyas- Conquering Sleep, Disease Resistance and Heart Helper and Flexibility and the Spine, just to name a few. After a deep relaxation with beautiful music, we conclude the class with a meditation.

Music in a Kundalini Yoga Class

High vibrational music is a very important part of many yoga sets and meditations. Music energizes, heals and focuses the mind.

Music has engaged me in my practice of Kundalini Yoga for over 30 years.

I play a symphonic gong for relaxation, referred to as a gong bath as tensions and fears melt away. The gong promotes deep healing and relaxation.

Laughter Yoga once every 6 weeks

Laughter Yoga is fun and has many health benefits: lowers stress and blood pressure, boosts mood with raised endorphin levels and relieves pain-physical and emotional.

Laughter Yoga does not rely on humor! It is playful, spontaneous laughter. Our brains do not distinguish between laughing at a funny story and laughing for no reason.

Children laugh a lot-adults not so much. We need to capture the child in each one of us and laugh more and feel so much better.

All proceeds benefit the Newton Food Pantry

About Marian and her classes

Marian Reynolds discovered kundalini yoga in 1990 and it has been her passion ever since. Her business career was with a payroll company and working at a hospital. Neither of which was fulfilling. Then she heard about kundalini yoga and signed up for her first class. “It was love at first sight,” says Marian. “I realized this is what I’ve always dreamed of doing and I didn’t even know it existed. My classes nourish me and bring a real sense of spirituality.”

She credits her first teacher for “expanding and opening my mind. I loved what her teachings had to offer.” As time passed, Marian met more teachers who were American Sikhs. “They were such kind and loving people.”

Marian says: “The yogis and yoginis I have come to know and love deeply are American Sikhs. When I teach it feels like angels are present in the room.”

As is traditional, Marian wears white for classes and covers her head.
Classes run for an hour with an average class size of six.
